专利说明:
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION AND PRIOR ART The present invention relates to a forwarder and to a method of handling pieces of wood according to the preambles of the appended independent claims. In deforestation according to the short timber method, which is usually carried out with the help of a harvester, a forwarder is used to pick up the pieces of timber that have been loosened during felling on the ground. A forwarder is a vehicle equipped with a crane with a gripping unit and a load space for receiving and transporting pieces of wood lifted via the gripping unit. The forwarder transports the pieces of wood to a unloading site, a so-called dump, for example at a forest truck, where they are loaded from the cargo hold and later picked up by, for example, a timber truck. The pieces of wood resulting from felling that are to be taken up by the forwarder's gripper unit can be laid divided into heaps according to different assortments, eg spruce timber, pine timber and birch timber according to different dimensions and lengths and softwood and birch mass, but a large number of additional assortments are conceivable. This division into assortments carried out in connection with the felling is made so that later loading of the timber pieces on a timber truck at the said offshoot can be done with different assortments separated so that the timber truck can efficiently transport the timber bits to the addressees and the respective assortments. In order to achieve a supply of the pieces of wood divided into different assortments of said offshoots, two different approaches have been used so far. The first has involved gripping via the forwarder's gripping means of a hog with pieces of wood according to an assortment and laying down this pasture in a part of the forwarder's cargo space and then when gripping pieces of wood of another assortment laying down these in another part of the cargo space to keep the different assortments separated from each other in the cargo space. The second approach used has been to grasp a pile of pieces of wood of one assortment by means of the gripping unit and if the gripping unit has room for more pieces of wood in its annular space, the gripping unit is moved to another heap and gripped thereof also in the case of another assortment of these pieces of wood. Darpa, the whole bundle of seized pieces of wood has been laid down in the cargo space and the pieces of wood there have been sorted to separate the assortments. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide a forwarder of an initially defined type which enables a more efficient handling of pieces of wood divided after felling into different assortments than according to the procedure described above. This object is achieved according to the invention by providing such a forwarder provided with the features drawn up in the jug-drawing part of appended claim 1. By providing the gripping unit with said at least one extra gripping arm in the manner according to the invention, it becomes possible, after gripping pieces of wood according to a first assortment, if there is space for it in the annular space defined by the gripping means to grab an additional bundle or hay with pieces of wood. if these were of a different assortment and then lead the seized pieces of timber to the forwarder's cargo space and then in turn load the timber pieces according to the different assortments in the designated places in the cargo space without performing flag sorting in the cargo space. As a result, a larger amount of pieces of wood can be handled in a selected "crane cycle" and the forwarder's cargo space is filled with pieces of wood divided into different assortments in a shorter time than has hitherto been possible with a conventional forwarder using any of the above procedures. At the same time, the certainty of the separation of the various ranges is increased. It is pointed out that the gripping assembly of the forwarder according to the invention can of course be used to grip pieces of wood according to one and the same assortment and feed them to the cargo space if desired or to seize pieces of wood which have been placed in heaps during felling containing a mixture of assortments. According to an embodiment of the invention, said at least one additional gripping arm is arranged removable into an inactive bearing in which it is arranged outside said annular space. Due to such a removability of said at least one extra gripping arm, which many choices can be two or three in number, this will not ails be in the carriage and take up space when the gripping unit is to be used to lift a large overall catch without the need for sorting, for example when unloading from the forwarder's cargo space or when collecting single-assortment timber. Thus the gripping shape of the gripping unit, i.e. how much this can grip at most, then be as large as with a corresponding gripping unit without said at least one extra gripping arm. According to another embodiment of the invention, said at least one additional gripping arm is arranged, seen in said direction for thoughtfully pushing pieces of wood through the annular space, in a position between spirits of this space defined with respect to this direction by the gripping means. By such an arrangement, such extra gripping arms can be built into the gripping unit without affecting its external shapes and be kept protected therein. According to another embodiment of the invention, said at least one additional gripping arm is arranged, seen in said direction for thoughtfully pushing pieces of wood through the annular space, in a position outside with respect to this direction of the gripping means defined in this direction by the gripping means. Such an arrangement of such extra gripping arms outside said space can in some cases be easy to achieve on already existing gripping units which are subsequently equipped according to the invention with one or more said extra gripping arms. According to another embodiment of the invention, the forwarder has only one named extra gripping arm. By having only one suitably dimensioned and shaped extra gripping arm, the control of this could be simplified in comparison with, for example, two extra gripping arms. According to another embodiment of the invention, the forwarder comprises two said extra gripping arms. This makes it possible to easily achieve secure gripping of pieces of wood within the said sepa10 straight subspace. According to another embodiment of the invention, said at least one additional gripping arm is divided into several branches, for example is fork-like. Such a design of the extra gripper arm or arms can facilitate the secure gripping of certain types of pieces of wood. According to another embodiment of the invention, said at least one extra gripping arm and a gripping member are arranged pivotable about the same axis of the gripping assembly for bringing said extra gripping arm and said gripping means between said gripping and slack layers. Such a device simplifies the construction of the gripping unit of the forwarder according to the invention. According to another embodiment of the invention, the forwarder comprises a force means designed to move said at least one additional gripping arm relative to a body of the gripping assembly, and this force means is fixed to a rotator plate of the gripping assembly. Such an arrangement of a named power member, for example a hydraulic cylinder, is appropriate. The invention also relates to a method for lifting pieces of timber lying on the ground in different assortments and placing them in a cargo space with the method steps specified in the pitcher part of the appended patent claims. The advantages of carrying out such a method in comparison with prior art such methods are clear from the above description of the embodiments of the forwarder according to the invention. Additional advantages and advantageous features of the invention will become apparent from the following description. Fig. 6 illustrates the gripping assembly according to Fig. 2 with the extra arms in inclined position and the ordinary gripping means ready for gripping, Fig. 6 illustrates the gripping assembly according to Fig. 2 with the extra gripping arms and the gripping means in inclined position, Fig. 7 illustrates the gripping assembly according to Fig. 2 with the extra gripping arms in the sloping! age and the gripping means in the relaxing layer for laying pieces of wood in the forwarder Fig. 8 illustrates the gripping assembly according to Fig. 2 used for gripping a large assembled catch without sorting needs, Fig. 9 is a Fig. 2 corresponding view illustrating a gripping assembly of a forwarder according to a second embodiment of the invention, and Fig. illustrates a gripping assembly of a forwarder according to a third embodiment of the invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION Fig. 1a schematically illustrates a conventional forwarder 1 provided with a cargo space 2 for receiving and transporting pieces of wood divided into different assortments. It is indicated that in the cargo hold there is already a batch of pieces of wood of two different assortments 3, 4 closed. Of course, it is also possible to fill the cargo space with pieces of wood of a single range. The forwarder further has a crane 5 with a gripping unit 6 for lifting pieces of wood from the ground and placing them in the cargo space. The different assortments often consist of falling lengths in the same load, ie simultaneously in the load space, for example from 2.7 m to 5.5 m. Fig. 1b shows a load space from behind and how separator struts S are used to separate the different assortments 3,3 ', 4 at. The forwarder is an off-road vehicle or a forestry machine (it can not be used in a combined harvester / forwarder) that is used for off-road transport, so-called forwarding, of pieces of wood from a felling site in vaglos terrain to a storage area accessible by a timber truck or other rocking vehicles. Fig. 2 illustrates in a simplified manner the gripping unit of a forwarder according to the invention, such as constituting conventional components and having nothing to do with the invention that Ora has been omitted for simplifying and clarifying purposes. The gripping assembly has two shaft-like gripping members 7, 8, which are pivotally arranged at a body 9, which has a rotator plate 10 for rotatably connecting the gripping assembly to the forwarder's crane. Power means, such as hydraulic cylinders, for effecting pivoting of the gripping means have been omitted in the figure. The gripping means are pivotable via pivoting relative to the body 9 between a gripping layer, in which they grip together around a plurality of pieces of wood and define an annular space 11 (see Fig. 4) for receiving the pieces of wood projecting through it, and a slack layer in which they open the ring. made the demarcation of space father to relax the pieces of wood from there. It can be seen from Fig. 2 that the gripping means define spirits 12, 12 'of the space 11 at a sufficient distance from each other in the direction of thoughtful sliding of pieces of wood through the annular space so that such pieces of wood can be held firmly by the gripping means. The gripping assembly also has two extra gripping arms 13, 14, which are pivotally arranged at the body 9, have around the same pivot shaft 15, 16 as their respective gripping means and by pivoting about this pivot shaft pass between a gripping layer, in which they grip pieces of wood and hail them in a separate subspace 17 (see Fig. 4) located within the annular space 11 delimited by the gripping means, and a slack layer in which they open up the separate subspace for unloading pieces of wood therefrom. It is indicated how a force means 18 in the form of a hydraulic cylinder can be arranged between the rotator plate 10 and a gripping arm 14 for effecting pivoting of the gripping arms relative to the body 9 of the gripping assembly. The function of a forwarder according to the invention provided with the gripping unit just described will now be explained with reference to Figs. 3-8. At a felling site, pieces of wood can lie on the ground divided into piles with pieces of wood of one and the same range, such as spruce timber, pine timber, softwood, birch pulp and firewood, at the same height. When the forwarder is to place such pieces of wood in its load space via its crane and gripping unit 8, the gripping means 7, 8 are swung apart, as shown in Fig. 3, and the gripping unit is lowered to the ground so that the extra gripping arms 13, 14 come around a hog of pieces of wood 19 of a first assortment, warp the gripping arms 13, 14 to the gripping layer shown in Fig. 4 for gripping the pieces of wood 19 and holding them in the subspace 17 defined by the gripping arms 13, 14 and the body 9 of the gripping assembly. Then the gripping unit is moved via the crane to a heap with pieces of wood 20 according to a second assortment and lowered so that the gripping means 7, 8 surround the heap and can then be led to its gripping layer, as shown in Fig. 5, for gripping the pieces of wood of the second assortment while simultaneously holding the pieces of wood of the first assortment via the gripping arms 13, 14. Fig. 6 shows how pieces of wood of the different assortments are held by the gripping unit separated from each other to be carried to the cargo space. Fig. 7 illustrates how the pieces of wood of the usual assortment can be laid down separately in the cargo space by first moving the gripping means 7, 8 to their slack layer for laying the pieces of wood 20 according to the second assortment in a stable in the cargo space 2 while retaining the pieces of wood 19 of the first assortment in gripper unit subspace 17. Drap the gripper unit to a stable for laying pieces of wood according to the first assortment and there the extra gripper arms are taken to their slack layer for separate laying of the pieces of wood. In the embodiment of the gripping assembly shown in Fig. 2, the two extra gripping arms 13, 14 are arranged to be removable into an inactive bearing in which they are arranged outside the annular space 11, so that they are not in the carriage and take up space when wishes to grip and lift a large collective catch without the need for sorting, for example when unloading from the forwarder's cargo space or when picking up assortment timber, as illustrated in Fig. 8. Fig. 9 illustrates how the gripping assembly of a forwarder according to a second embodiment of the invention has only an additional 9 gripping arm, and in such a case this is made longer than the extra gripping arms have the embodiment according to Fig. 2 and is shaped so that it can be maneuvered to helped by other parts of the gripping unit, such as the frame, gripping and holding pieces of wood in a named subspace. Fig. 10 illustrates how a forwarder according to a third embodiment of the invention has additional gripping arms 22, 23 can be arranged outside the spirits 12 and 12 ', respectively, of the annular space defined by the gripping means 7, 8. This constitutes a location of the extra gripping arms which have some types of grippers may be lamp-hg. The invention is not in any way limited to the embodiments described above, but a number of possibilities for modifications thereof should be obvious to a person skilled in the art without this being deviating from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. By "annular space" is meant a space defined by elements, such as gripping means and frame, for enclosing a catch of pieces of wood. The space can have an arbitrary cross-sectional shape and even be somewhat tipped as long as the pieces of timber in it do not fall out of it.
